Business & Shop Opening Muhurat 2027: Rules + 72 Auspicious Dates
72 dates in 2027 pass the classical screen for business and shop openings — the right commerce nakshatra, a clean tithi, a Mercury/Jupiter/Venus weekday, and an allowed lunar month. The strongest windows: January (12 dates), March (11), February (10), and November–December (9 each). Only one date falls in the Chaturmas stretch.
The rules for vyapara (commercial) muhurta
Nakshatra. Commerce favors the stable, prosperous stars: Ashwini, Rohini, Mrigashira, Pushya, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Revati, Mula. (Source tradition: Muhurta Chintamani, Vanijya Prakarana.)
Vara. Wednesday is Mercury's day — the planet of trade — and the single best weekday to open a business. Thursday (expansion) and Friday (wealth) follow. Monday and Sunday are acceptable. Avoid Tuesday and Saturday for commercial beginnings.
Tithi. Same discipline as ever: no rikta tithis (4th, 9th, 14th), no Amavasya. Shukla Paksha (waxing fortnight) is preferred for launches — a growing Moon for a growing business.
Lagna. The opening moment's ascendant should be strong: fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) for permanence, Mercury unafflicted, Jupiter in a kendra if possible. This is the part a table can't do — use our muhurta finder.

Diwali window: Lakshmi Puja falls on 27 November 2027 — the traditional Chopda Pujan day for opening new books. Note that November 28 (Govardhan Puja) also scores well in our screen.
The opening-day checklist
- First invoice/sale in the lagna. The muhurta attaches to the first commercial act — first sale, first invoice, ribbon-cutting — not the interior decoration.
- Chopda Pujan / Lakshmi puja at opening: new books or laptop, Lakshmi–Ganesh idols, red cloth, silver coin.
- Avoid Rahu Kaal and Bhadra for the opening act even on a good date.
- Face east while performing the opening puja; keep the cash box in the southwest.
- First customer. Many traders ensure the first sale is to a trusted well-wisher — a small, happy transaction to "set" the energy.
Diwali & Chopda Pujan: the business new year
For trading communities (Gujarati, Marwari, Jain), Diwali is the business new year. On 27 November 2027 (Lakshmi Puja evening), new account books — chopda — are worshipped before Lakshmi and Ganesh, formally opening the new financial year (Vikram Samvat 2084). Even businesses launched months earlier do their Chopda Pujan then. If you're starting a venture in 2027, plan a small Chopda Pujan on Diwali regardless of your launch date — it's the cultural anchor of the commercial year.

Frequently asked questions
Should an online business also pick a muhurta?
Yes — time the website/store launch, first listing, or first ad campaign. The "opening" is the moment you go public commercially.
What if I already opened without a muhurta?
Do a Lakshmi–Ganesh puja in the next auspicious window and consider a "re-launch" (new signage, new offering) in a proper muhurta. Remedies exist; don't panic.
Is Akshaya Tritiya good for business launch?
Akshaya Tritiya (8 May 2027) is a swayamsiddha muhurta — traditionally excellent for beginning ventures. Note the Tritiya tithi is kshaya (daytime-only) this year; confirm the hour.
Which muhurta suits a restaurant vs. a trading shop?
The core filters are the same; restaurants additionally favor Monday/Friday (Moon/Venus — food and hospitality) and the Rohini/Mrigashira nakshatras. A pandit can fine-tune by business type.
